This past weekend my boyfriends’ parents visited the city, so we decided to do some of the more touristy things that we normally wouldn’t. We first started off at Chelsea Market, roaming the artists’ flea and stopping by the Doughnuttery for a treat. Then, despite the heat, we decided to venture to the High Line. It was fun to roam the old railroad tracks, snapping pictures along the way and appreciating the sights and sounds of the city.
After the High Line, we took a long walk down to the Big Gay Ice Cream shop to try it out (I recommend the vanilla milkshake or the Fanta float). With our ice cream in hand we decided to walk, and stumbled upon a little street fair around Washington Square Park. I ended up finding the cutest Turkish towel, which will definitely come in handy for lounging/picnics at the park.
It was so nice to have a weekend to explore the city. Once New York becomes your home, you tend to neglect to visit and appreciate the places and things that it’s known for. After this weekend, I have resolved to explore the city more often.
